Pre-Academy Development Program | Goalkeeper

Designed to advance the goalkeeping skills of players, this program is open to boys and girls wanting to develop their goalkeeping skills under the guidance of experienced Western Sydney Wanderers coaches.

The Wanderers Pre-Academy Development Program for Goalkeepers will build on the skills that players already possess while teaching them new skills and techniques to improve their game based on the club’s highly regarded coaching curriculum.

Our primary focus is to develop and strengthen the skill set of each individual goalkeeper whilst using a modern, methodical approach to key fundamental techniques.

As one of the most vital and crucial roles in the team, our sessions will focus on all physical, tactical and psychological demands of the position.

Who are the Coaches?

Via experienced Wanderers coaching staff, the objective is to educate, train and build a strong goalkeeping regiment to benefit the future footballer.

Jimmy Fraser

Jimmy Fraser, a former Socceroo goalkeeper, has become a leading figure in Australian football through his 40-year career as a goalkeeping coach.

Transitioning from a distinguished playing career, Fraser has dedicated himself to the development of goalkeepers, leveraging his vast experience to enhance their skills, tactical understanding, and mental toughness.

Renowned for his effective coaching methods and mentorship, he has significantly influenced the landscape of Australian soccer, inspiring countless players and fellow coaches.

Trinity Allen

Trinity Allen is a prominent goalkeeping coach in Australian football, currently serving as the Wanderers A-League Women goalkeeping coach and the Junior Matildas goalkeeping coach.

Over the past decade, Allen has made remarkable contributions to both women’s and men’s football, known for his innovative coaching techniques and ability to elevate goalkeeper performances.

  • Trained by our highly qualified Academy coaches the Wanderers coaching philosophy is player-centric and driven with the outcome to provide players for our Isuzu UTE A-League Men, Liberty A-League Women, and national teams
  • Players will be taught the same skills and methods as the Wanderers Academy players
  • An opportunity to identify and transition players into the Wanderers Academy
  • Open to both boys and girls

2024 Calender

The program will run alongside the school calendar year each Monday night.

  • Term One | Monday 4 March – Monday 8 April (excluding Easter Monday)
  • Term Two | Monday 29 April – Monday 1 July

Recommended Ages

The program is broken down across the following age groups and timings:

  • 10-12 years old from 5 PM to 6 PM
  • 13-15 years old from 6 PM to 7 PM
  • 16 years or over from 7 PM to 8 PM

  • Professional coaching from both the highly qualified Jimmy Fraser and Trinity Allen
